Marten Falls ArenaMarten Falls First Nation has proceeded to finish construction of its arena facility project. The completion of the original project was delayed for several years due to constraints on funding resources.

The arena will be a state of the art facility that is comparable to arenas in urban centers. It will boast an official size rink with a modern board and protective shield system. When done, it will be equipped with a coolant system that willl maintain cool ice surface temperatures to ensure maximum ice usage through the season.

The Marten Falls Arena project was approved in late 2009 by the new Recreational Infrastructure Canada Initiative. Marten Falls First Nation had originally started the ambitious project using its own source revenues at a cost of over $ 2,000,000. Total new funding for the arena was approved by the RICI to the level of  $1,200,000.00 above and beyond MFFN's own contribution.

The MFFN Council is currently working on an operations and maintenance plan for the new community facility.

Update (October 28-2011)- The arena project is now complete with the last of the coolant system installed and ready for start up and operation. The grand opening event has yet to be decided with chief and council.
